Get The Big Bang Theory Seasons 1 & 2 on Bluray Combo Pack Now!

I've been loving all the Comic-Con updates that I've been seeing on Facebook and the news sites, I keep telling my husband that someday I'm going to do that! I would need to bring a lot of money with me, though, because I'm sure to come across some collectible that I just have to have from who knows what show. There was an episode of The Big Bang Theory where Leonard and Sheldon had to have what they thought was a miniature replica of a time machine from their favorite 1960’s film, and nothing completes a geek collection like a time machine, right? So they bid on it, and won, only to find out it was a full-sized replica. I think if I could have any real, legitimate item from a movie, it would have to be the Auryn from The Neverending Story. What about you? Do you have a must-have item from your favorite tv show/movie/comic book? Well, if you said The Big Bang Theory on Blu-Ray, then you're in luck because not only is available, but it's affordable, too. You can pick up The Big … [Read more...]

The Big Bang Theory Complete First and Second Season on Blu-Ray Combo Pack

Big bang theory dvd blurry season 1 season 2

There are a lot of things to love about The Big Bang Theory, and one of them is Penny and Leonard's relationship. Complicated as it may be, I think Penny gave up on it a little too soon when she decided that she just wasn't smart enough to be with Leonard. I've got to say, I can sympathize a little with Penny. My husband is just now entering his third year of his PhD program and I've been able to keep up intellectually in our relationship, but there are certain circumstances where I get wide-eyed and wonder what in the heck is going on! I do all the proofreading on my husband's papers and there have been a handful of times that I've not been able to follow along with the topic because it is, what I like to call, "egghead" work. Luckily, I'm able to correct any punctuation or grammar, but when it came to content a couple of times I couldn't be of any help! Also, in our social circles, which for the most part involved other young families like ours with a spouse in the PhD program. … [Read more...]

Big Fish Games: Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom | Review & Giveaway

Big-Fish-Games-Logo

How are you tackling summer boredom this season? Emma's been out of school for 2 1/2 weeks and I've been going through activities for her faster than I thought I would! While we try to keep our kids active, here in the summer heat of West Texas we do find times where it's necessary to stay inside (and times when I need a break!). Big Fish Games is a great online resource for computer activities and family games for my kids. Emma loves to play on the computer and I'm going to have her tell you all about her current favorite game, Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom: Big Fish Games has a wide variety of games and activities for everyone in the family - from puzzles and word games for mom or dad to popular character and educational games for even the littlest of family members (my little 2 year-old Abby loves to "pretend" to play games on the computer). Because every child is different, and some games might be too tricky (or too easy), Big Fish Games has a great "try before you buy" … [Read more...]

Cuddly as a Bunny Picture Me | Review

Screen Shot 2012-05-06 at 7.48.54 PM

I'm always looking for fun apps for my kids, who are practically the new owners of my iPad. One of the ones we've been having fun with lately is Cuddly as a Bunny app for iPhone, iPod, or iPad, you can take new pictures or add photos from your library and it will place your children (or you or whoever the pictures are of) in adorable baby animal costumes. Dress up as a cuddly bunny, woolly lamb, frisky kitty, dalmation puppy and more! There are plenty of playful sounds and interactive objects on every page as you flip through the story and see recognizable faces (among standard characters) in each illustration. Abby as a frisky kitten! One of the neat things about this app is that you can have several pictures and as you go through the story they will utilize all of them, so I'm able to use pics of each person in our family, which is a lot of fun for my kids. A few of the other features include sharing favorite pages via email or saving to a photo library, you can also print any … [Read more...]

Check Out “The Awakening” – a new album from James Morrison!

James Morrison Logo

My husband is usually the one in the family that finds new-to-us music first, but I'm pretty pleased with myself for finding James Morrison and turning us on to his music. I'll admit I'm a sucker for british singer-songwriters, so when I first heard about him and his new album, "The Awakening," I was immediately interested, not to mention surprised I hadn't come across him before since he's been around for a while. When we were checking out his albums on iTunes we saw that he had worked with the likes of Jason Mraz and Nelly Frutado, too. He's a staple on our iPods now and I'm excited to help spread the word about him. James Morrison's first 2 albums “Undiscovered" and “Songs for You, Truths for Me” have sold a combined total of 4.5 million copies and yielded an astonishing 10 singles! “The Awakening” is a warm, live-sounding collection of classic but contemporary folk-soul songs. There are nods to Motown, gospel, country and even a hint of Latin, so his music is bound to appeal to … [Read more...]

Little Critter Collection 1 from Oceanhouse Media | Review

littlecritter

When I was little I was a big fan of the Little Critter books, and thankfully I was able to hold on to all my books to use with my kids, who absolutely adore Little Critter. While my kids love to read books, they also love to play on the iPad and iPhone, and I'm okay with that because I've found that Oceanhouse Media has recently released The Little Critter Collection #1 by Mercer Meyer for iOS, which you can download for $11.99 and receive a collection of 10 Little Critter books for your iPhone or iPad, which is a steal because individually they cost between $0.99 and $1.99 depending on the book. Some of our most favorite Little Critter books are included in the app, such as "I Was So Mad," "I Just Forgot," "All By Myself," and "Me, Too!" One of the other books included is new to us, it's called "The New Potty" and is about Little Critter's little sister learning to use the potty, which is perfect timing for my little 2 year-old because that's what we're working ferociously … [Read more...]

Disney Junior All Day, Every Day!

127292_131

We're big fans of Disney Junior in our house and we were pretty pleased to find out that instead of just a block of programming in the mornings on The Disney Channel, Disney Junior would be receiving it's very own channel this week! Beginning Friday, March 23rd, select cable and satellite providers will be launching the all-new 24-hour Disney Junior channel! Of course we're excited about our favorites "Jake and The Never Land Pirates" and "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse," but I'm really quite ecstatic that they'll be airing some of our old favorites, particularly Jo-Jo's Circus! In addition to current and returning favorites, there will be new programming for the channel as well. "Doc McStuffins," about a 6 year-old girl who can talk to her stuffed animals and toys and treat them in her backyard playhouse clinic, will be the newest addition to the Disney Junior repertoire. We've seen a preview of the show and it's really so cute! Also coming soon to the channel are two more new series, … [Read more...]

“Friends With Kids” Opening this week!

image002

Can you have it all? Is the grass always greener on the other side? Well past my single days, now into my child-rearing, domesticated days, I often think back and wonder if things had turned out differently would I be so content? Or would I just be content in a different way? Needless to say, I've been anxious for this movie to come out, and it's nearly time! I've enjoyed Jennifer Westfeldt's films in the past, and the cast for Friends With Benefits is amazing, so that builds my anticipation even more :) If you haven't yet heard about this film, check out the trailer and synopsis below. Let me know what you think! Jennifer Westfeldt wrote, directed, and stars in the romantic comedy Friends with Kids. She plays Julie, a Manhattanite whose biological clock is about to run out, so she convinces her longtime platonic best friend, Jason (Adam Scott) to father a child with her. They seem to have a much easier time juggling the responsibilities of new parenthood without the … [Read more...]

Real Moms Love To Eat by Beth Aldrich

lovestoeat

I found this last year in my daughter's notebook. I mostly laughed about it! My husband and I have done a lot of talking lately about the foods we eat and where we could cut back or improve. We both want to make healthier, whole food choices more of the time, but succumb to ease a little more than we would like. We're unashamed that we like to eat and enjoy indulging every now and then. For a few weeks now I've been following Beth Aldrich's blog, RealMomsLoveToEat.com, and appreciate her approach to food: "There is absolutely nothing wrong with loving food; it’s the type of food you choose to love that is the problem." Her blog is a wealth of recipes, thoughts on food and eating, and general Aldrich is soon releasing a book based on her blog, it's called "Real Moms Love to Eat: How to Conduct a Love Affair with Food and Still Look Fabulous," and it will be available from Amazon in early January. Aldrich is a certified healthy lifestyle and nutrition expert, public speaker, and mom. … [Read more...]

Think switching to a natural deodorant is hard? Think again with Crystal Roll-On #CrystalRollOn #CBias

Crystal-Body-Deodorant-logo

For some time now I've been on a journey to reasonably transition my family into a more organic, natural lifestyle that includes healthy food choices, environmental choices, as well as cosmetic choices. One of the most important and recent choices I have made personally, is to ditch antiperspirant deodorants and exclusively use a natural deodorant. Until a few months ago, I thought the only natural deodorant choice out there was the Crystal Rock that could only be purchased in natural food stores. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that natural deodorant choices are all around us - and can be as convenient to purchase as shopping at your nearest Walmart! I'm excited to share my experience with a new natural deodorant, Crystal Roll-On, thanks to #CrystalRollOn and #CBias, and how I didn't even have to go out of my way to get it ;) But, first, I want to tell you some things that are a little personal, but I share them so that you will understand why I am so passionate about … [Read more...]

Take the Wat-aah! Challenge ~ We did!

Baby Challenge rev

This year Emma and I accepted the Wat-aah! Challenge and made a little video chronicling our experience. As a Wat-aah! Challenge participant, we were asked to put the new lunchbox-friendly 10-ounce sized bottles of Wat-aah! in our fridge next to our kids' normal lunch drink and see which one they choose to take in their lunch. On this particular morning, as you will see in the video, Emma chose Wat-aah! and after school we had a little chat about whether or not she liked it! Fair warning - we were pretty "whispery" in the beginning because it was early morning and the rest of the house was sound asleep! Plus, listen for how she pronounces Wat-aah! It kills me. Emma is a funny girl. She took the "pink" Wat-aah! (the BODY version, made with pure spring water) to school but didn't care for it because she didn't think it tasted like water. *This is me scratching my head* Her friends at school, though, thought her Wat-aah! was pretty cool. Emma did, however, like the "blue" Wat-aah! … [Read more...]

Please find the time to watch Lifetime’s movie FIVE on Monday, October 10th

lifetime_300x100_five

October is one of my favorite months, for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that it is a month dedicated to celebrating life and education and recognizing the impact of breast cancer. Next Monday, Lifetime will air FIVE, an anthology of five short films exploring the impact of breast cancer on people’s lives directed by Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys, Demi Moore, Patty Jenkins and Penelope Spheeris and featuring well-known actresses in each. Through an interconnected story arc that uses humor and drama to focus on the effect breast cancer and its different stages of diagnosis have on relationships and the way women perceive themselves while searching for strength, comfort, medical breakthroughs and, ultimately, a cure. FIVE highlights the shared experience each short film’s title character – “Charlotte” (Ginnifer Goodwin), “Cheyanne” (Lyndsy Fonseca), “Lili” (Rosario Dawson), “Mia” (Patricia Clarkson) and “Pearl” (Jeanne Tripplehorn) – endures from the moment of … [Read more...]

ABC’s “The Middle” Season 2 on DVD and Bluray now!

I've come to the conclusion that I'm too soft when it comes to punishing my kids. I threaten a lot, but seem unable to follow through. For instance, my daughter's closet got to the point where it looked like a bomb went off in it. When we spent the couple hours it took to clean it, I swore to her that if she let it get like that again I would just throw everything away. Well, guess what I did this weekend? I cleaned up that messy closet again and didn't throw everything away like I promised I would. I thought about that empty threat a lot during one of the episodes of The Middle on Season 2. The Heck's were having trouble getting their oldest son Axl to stop leaving his dirty socks around the house and finally his dad had enough and told Axl that his punishment would be that he couldn't play in his basketball team's final game. I think Mike (the dad) regretted giving that punishment afterward, but he felt like he needed to follow through with it otherwise the kids will never take … [Read more...]

Join the Life Foundation and “Insure Your Love”

life_tree_vector_fin_no_url_grn

As parents of young children, my husband and I have had to have a lot of "what if?" talks. The most important of which has been what if one, or both, of us passed, what would happen to our daughters? Having experienced the loss of a parent myself, I can tell you that the last thing you want to worry about is money or "business" matters. We don't want our children, extended family, or each other to bear any unnecessary burden in an unfortunate event like death. It's one of the reasons we are adamant about having life insurance. Last month was Life Insurance Awareness month, sponsored by the nonprofit group LIFE Foundation, is an effort to bring awareness to the growing problem of too many families not having adequate life insurance protection. According to an industry research study, 11 million households in the U.S. with children under the age of 18 have no coverage at all! Can you imagine the financial crisis that would result in the event of an accident or illness? The LIFE … [Read more...]
