My youngest daughter recently turned eight years old, and that is a BIG deal in our religion. She is so excited and has been talking non-stop about it since the day after she turned seven last year! Recently I took her out on an evening up to the Sacramento LDS Temple grounds for a photo shoot in her beautiful white baptism dress.
We went for the photos during “twilight hour,” which is about an hour before sunset. It was perfect! The sun was in just the right place to provide the best lighting.
I was very lucky to have Pinterest as a resource for baptism ideas. I found her dress on clearance for $20 at David’s Bridal! I never would have thought to look there had I not seen pins for flower girl dresses. I’m so used to shopping at Target and Old Navy, I’m really glad I branched out and found this dress that was perfect for her personality, appropriate for her age and the event, and would be cool during the heat of the summer.
Another great gift from Pinterest was LDS baptism invitation ideas. There are so many lovely ideas! I made my own using the baptism photo shoot pictures and edited them online with PicMonkey. Since they’re digital it’s great to be able to print them and hand out or send through email or post on Facebook.
The flowers were as bright as could be and I’m so happy with how her photos turned out! She got a little cranky along the way, though (“The grass is scratching me!” “It’s hot!” etc.), but she faked it pretty well for the pictures!
I took all the photos myself and edited them online with PicMonkey photo editing tools. I really hope they’ll be a treasure to her someday. And maybe one day, many, many years from now, I’ll be able to pull these out and put alongside her wedding photos!
