Little Passports World Edition | Review & Giveaway

Did you ever have a penpal when you were a kid? I had one for a while that lived in Australia and it was such a fun and enriching experience to get mail from her every few weeks. I’d marvel at the stamps on the letters or packages and I’d get particularly excited when she’d send me souvenirs from her country. Unfortunately, communication is a whole new world nowadays and penpals, particularly international penpals are probably a lost art! Now, you know I’m a big fan of subscription boxes, and I’m really excited to share with you the original monthly subscription box for kids! Yes, long before all the others, in 2009 Little Passports launched to bring a literal world of activities and education to children monthly.

little passports world edition

Much like having a penpal, through Little Passports World Edition, friends Sam and Sofia travel to a new country on their magical scooter and share their experiences your child by sending an exciting package each month via postal mail, including a letter, activity sheet, fun souvenirs (think Egyptian dig kit, etc.), and access to an online Boarding Zone full of educational games and activities. The World Edition of Little Passports is ideal for children ages 5 to 10.

Upon joining Little Passports, you’ll receive the first month’s Explorer Kit, which includes a mini-suitcase, wall map, passport, stickers, activities and more. Emma absolutely loves to receive mail and is so excited about Little Passports! She keeps all the letters and souvenirs and other materials in the suitcase and can decorate it with the stickers and boarding passes Sam and Sofia send her. You can see her in the pictures above filling out her own “passport” and going over the letters and pictures she received. She follows Sam and Sofia on their adventures thanks to the large map that was included in the Explorer Kit. It’s been a great experience for us, as it’s started conversations about places her parents have been in the world and places she wants to go. I think it’s actually been eye-opening for all of us – we recently found out that Emma really wants to go to Borneo!?

As I mentioned earlier, each month subscribers receive a small package with special souvenirs, stickers, letters and activities from countries all around the world. To broaden the experience, each boarding pass includes an online access code so your child can log on and enjoy games and activities related to the country Sam and Sofia sent the package from.

Little Passports has recently launched a new version of their service – Little Passports USA Edition, which follows Sam and Sofia around the United States and is geared toward a slightly older age range, 7 to 12.

Beginning with the USA Discovery Kit, which includes a letter from Sam and Sofia, a wall-sized USA map, field guide, scratch book, disposable camera and photo scavenger hunt, in subsequent months, kids will receive a travel journal packed with 32 pages of activities themed around two different states, starting with New York and Texas. They’ll also get a 3D pop-up model of a state icon to build – for example, The Alamo – state stickers, postcards, and a letter from Sam and Sofia with the inside scoop on their travels.

Little Passports

Both the World Edition and the USA Edition of Little Passports start at the highly affordable monthly subscription rate of $11.95. When purchasing multiple month subscriptions discounts will apply, for instance a 12 month subscription comes to only $10.95 per month. Save 10% on a Little Passports order with code NOV10 through end of November! You can follow Little Passports on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or join their newsletter on their site here to stay up to date on deals and promotions, as well as sneak peeks of Sam and Sofia’s adventures around the globe and country.

I can’t recommend Little Passports highly enough as a wonderful holiday gift idea and I’m so pleased they are part of my Jolly Holiday Gift Guide! Just remember to order by December 17th for holiday delivery!

The awesome folks at Little Passports have offered to give away a two-month subscription to Little Passports World Edition to one of my lucky readers! You’ll receive the Explorer Kit with the suitcase and map and all the other items, plus one month of receiving a package from Sam and Sofia!
