I always seem to have difficulty shopping for toys for my second child, 3 year-old Abigail. She has a lot of hand-me-down toys from her big sister, and therefore it’s hard to know what would be a good fit for her, what she really needs, versus wants, and so forth. I imagine I’m not alone in this conundrum, even more so, when holiday shopping is involved!
I’m really pleased to have Little Pnuts as a part of my Jolly Holiday Gift Guide because of their unique subscription service and sincere attention to detail. Little Pnuts is different in a number of ways, the first of which is that it’s not a monthly service – rather, it’s a quarterly subscription. Second, and most exciting, it caters to children from birth through age 5! Little Pnuts features a variety of brands that are equally unique, educational, and “green.” As always, the best ideas are those born of a need unmet otherwise, and as such, Little Pnuts was created not only with your little one and their development in mind, but you, as a parent, too. By leaving the “toy shopping” up to Little Pnuts, you’re able to spend more time with your own “little pnut” ;)
Here’s a peek inside our most recent “Special Delivery:”
- Haba Orchard Card Game ($12) – Oh, my gosh, both my girls have so much fun with this game. It was so easy to teach Abigail, she got the hang of it right away. It’s a great catalyst for teaching colors and taking turns. I seriously love this and am so glad we were introduced to it through Little Pnuts.
- Plan Toys Shape Sorter ($20) – A little more involved than a traditional shape sorter, this has been played with by Abigail in a number of ways. She enjoys playing with the pieces individually, and then mixing and matching them on the board.
- Hape Lacing Pony ($16) – I’ve been meaning to pick up a lacing set for Abigail, since she’s finally at that stage where she’s using focus and dexterity more, so it’s nice to have Little Pnuts do the thinking and shopping for me ;) This was a lot of fun, a little on the complicated side, even for me, but we did it together and once we got through it Abigail knew what to do the next time.
- Sevi 1831 Space Shuttle with Truck ($12) – Abigail has had a great time learning about magnets with this set. And, lucky for us, it came right around the time the space shuttle was coming through California, so we were able to talk about what a space shuttle is and what it does, and the things that help it go and get transported. This is a good example of something that has been so fun, but not something I would have considered on my own.
Since we received four items in our Little Pnuts Special Delivery, and rather than give her an overload of toys all at once, I went ahead and introduced one to her each week. We do a lot of playing at home and it was a lot of fun for her to play with something new each week and really have the time to “master” it and learn from it. Our box included a pamphlet that outlines my daughter’s expected developmental milestones, explains why these particular toys were chosen for this delivery, and gives a few different “outside the box” ideas for play.
As I mentioned in the bullet points about some of the toys we received, one of the really great things about Little Pnuts is that they are one step ahead of me. They take into consideration the child’s stage of development and provide quality products that enhance their current stage and help to bring about advancing to the next stage. I’m also introduced to toys that I might otherwise overlook. I can honestly say that I would never have picked up the Orchard Card Game or the Space Shuttle Set with the thought to purchase, but now I see that they are absolutely perfect for my child!
There are a number of ways you can subscribe to Little Pnuts, starting at $25 per month for 4 quarterly deliveries that include 3-5 toys in each box. You can also opt for an annual subscription and there are now international shipping options available, too! I think it would be a perfect addition to any family’s holiday wishlist. Little Pnuts’ next shipment of Special Deliveries will be going out at the beginning of December – perfect timing, if you ask me – so hurry and join now for the holidays!
