Most of you know by now that I’m a big proponent of going “green” in an affordable, convenient manner. I don’t suggest going off the grid or anything like that, but I do try to share ways that you can make healthier choices for your family. Going “green” doesn’t mean going broke. It’s frustrating to see people purchase products with known chemical hazards when there is an eco-friendly option available at for a competitive price just one over on the shelf. That said, I was super excited when I thumbed through the Walgreens ad a few weeks ago and noticed their new line of store-brand products that are not only adorable in design, but affordable and good for you and for the planet! Ology from Walgreens is a broad line of products ranging from personal care and beauty to home and office. Yes, office! Look at that ream of copy paper in the photo up there!
Ology products can be found at Walgreens on the shelf beside the national leading brands. I picked out a handful of products for our family to try, and I was really pleased to see such a variety at reasonable prices. I paid $7 for the Free & Clear 2x Laundry Liquid, far below other “healthy” national brands, $5 for the Soothing Baby Shampoo & Body Wash, and $5 for the CFL Bulb.
I have actually been quite impressed with all three products that we’ve been using. I was expecting them to be on par with other products we’ve used, but they have all exceeded those expectations! The Ology Soothing Baby Shampoo & Wash I use on both my daughters and it has a nice, subtle scent, lathers really well, and leaves their hair really soft and manageable without needing to use a conditioner. That was the most impressive about that product, I usually find that Shampoo/Body Wash combos dry my kids’ hair out, but this has been really gentle and I have noticed a really nice shine and manageability since we’ve been using it!
The Ology Laundry Liquid is just what it advertises: Free and Clear. I really like the compact bottle and that is does the job in half the amount as a typical bottle of laundry detergent.
Now, I’ve got to tell you about this little Ology CFL bulb. I bought the 15 watt, which is equivalent to a 60 watt bulb. I put it in my daughter’s bedside lamp and was completely expecting it to be similar in performance to our other CFL bulbs. Oh, my. Using this little 15 watt bulb is like having 10 lamps on in my daughter’s room! It is so bright and white, I couldn’t believe it. It doesn’t flicker or take much time to reach its peak brightness. I actually had to double-check the base of the bulb to make sure that it was, indeed, the wattage I purchased because I really feel like I’m using a 100 watt bright white bulb in her room! The bottom line is that these Ology CFL Bulbs are awesome.
Ology brand products are available at Walgreens and Duane Reade stores, as well as online. You can find out more about their products and ingredients here. I did find that the prices online varied from the prices in store, though, and some products are only available in store (like the CFLs). Be sure to “like” Ology on Facebook to stay up to date on new products and possible promotions. I really love Ology and plan on staying with the brand and am hoping they expand their line! I’d love to see a dish soap and hand soap soon! Have you tried Ology yet? What did you think? I’d love to hear it, feel free to leave me a comment with your thoughts!
I was sent a Walgreen’s gift card for the purposes of obtaining Ology products to review. No other compensation was offered or received. No suggestions or requests to select specific products within the Ology line were offered. I was in no way obligated to write a positive review and all opinions are mine and mine alone.
