Wow is there a lot of fun and exciting things going on in Kiwi Crate land right now! First of all it’s nearly time for November Crates to ship out, and if you haven’t already heard, this month’s theme (SPOILER ALERT) is Making Music, created in partnership with Carnegie Hall. It’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait to get it and review it for you. Second, Kiwi Crate just kicked off their Holiday Shop! They’ve released three limited edition Holiday Kiwi Crates that will be available for individual purchase through the season, at $19.95 each plus shipping. Like all Kiwi Crates, these Holiday Crates are designed for ages 3 and up, feature 2 to 3 projects in each set, and are available at KiwiCrate.com for $19.95 plus shipping.
There are three options to choose from: Crafty Christmas, Gifts Made by Me, and Handmade Hanukkah. With Crafty Christmas you’re given all the tools you need to make a Gingerbread House and also three Paint Swirl Ornaments. In Gifts Made by Me, you’ll find all the materials you need to create two handmade art print gifts, decorate 2 journals and 4 greeting cards, and then put them all together by making your own wrapping paper and ribbon. The Handmade Hanukkah Kiwi Crate comes with everything you need to make a beautiful menorah (it includes 9 LED tea lights to light them with) and also a dreidel spin art activity.
Our family chose to do the Crafty Christmas Kiwi Crate and, as you can see above, it was packed full of fun. My daughter Emma is 8 years old and is the crafting queen of the house. She has been so excited about making a gingerbread house and ornaments! I was so impressed with all the items in Crafty Christmas – those folks at Kiwi Crate, they really thought of everything ;)
Spread out across the living room creating her gingerbread house ~ A work in progress!
Emma had one free afternoon earlier this week and started on making her gingerbread house. She’s pretty much at the age where she can do most of it herself. Making the gingerbread house is a real creative endeavor, my advice is to take a whole afternoon to do it, or spread the project out over a few days, which is what we have done. And that’s made it more fun, she can work on the gingerbread house a little bit at a time through the month and be ready to display it after Thanksgiving when we get our holiday decorations out. The ornaments won’t take as long to do, and Abigail (my 3 year-old) is going to join in on the fun with those (actually, I’m pretty excited about making them, too!).
